Scootronics own unique design of a universal CDI. The CDI can be powered from an AC or DC supply. The CDI module is designed to give a constant spark energy of approximately 110 milli joules right through the rev range. The CDI comes fitted to the bracket and also the HT coil is fitted. Supplied with high quality silicon HT lead. Also included is the custom mini wiring loom. The CDI and HT coil are pre fitted to the Stainless steel bracket. Also fitted is the Scootronics AC regulator with also the DC charge output. Please note the DC charge output is intended to charge a small sealed lead acid battery and run low powered accessories. Please don't try and run full DC for this charge output. The bracket also has an 6.3mm earth tab fitted so you can plug your White earth wire from your stator to it.

The wiring loom has 5 wires. Wiring is.

  1. Brown Wire: Power feed. Feed can be taken from AC regulator output or a DC supply ie: Battery. If wired to a battery it will need to be a switched supply to avoid discharging the battery when the engine isn't running.
  2. Red Wire: Pick up signal. Connect your pick up signal to this wire. Either from an internal pick up or my external pick up.
  3. Green/Yellow: Earth. This wire comes fitted with an M6 ring terminal to be secured to a suitable earth point on your chassis or on one of the M6 inserts on the bracket. The bracket will need to be earthed to the scooter chassis also. This is normally achieved when the bracket is secured to the chassis fixing point.
  4. Purple: This comes pre terminated with a 6.3mm fully insulated spade terminal and is plugged into the HT coil.
  5. Green: This is the CDI kill/shutdown connection. Normally you would connect your Green wire in the loom to this connection which basically shorts it to chassis when your ignition key is switched off or if you have the push button stop.
  • Please note: When using the universal cdi you will no longer need the LT coil voltage from your stator which is normally the green wire from stator. Please isolate this connection and tuck away somewhere safe.
  • Also included will be the wiring diagram for the AC regulator
